Is Fatty Liver a LIVER PROBLEM?

Yes and no.

This is indeed a liver issue and indicates that fat has accumulated within your liver. It is not only a liver issue, but a manifestation of an overall metabolic disorder.

The liver is an important storehouse. The liver stores fat from the food we consume. The liver stores fat if we have an overall positive balance of calories consumed and burned each day. The fat accumulates over time to the point that your liver cells start to die. At this point, your liver tests will start to become abnormal. The liver will try to heal itself by forming abnormal fibrosis, and it can eventually become cirrhosis if no action is taken. Cirrhosis is not reversible once it has occurred. It can lead to complications such as bloody vomit and bloody stools. The damage is no different than that caused by alcohol. Alcohol and fat are both harmful to your liver.

The liver cells of a person with non-alcoholic fattyliver disease accumulate more fats, triglycerides in particular. The liver contains some fat, but this does not cause any symptoms.

The condition affects people of all ages, but is more common in those in their 40s or 50s due to the high risks of cardiovascular disease that come with obesity and type 2 diabetics. This condition is closely related to the metabolic syndrome. The metabolic syndrome is a group of abnormalities that includes increased abdominal fat and a poorer ability to utilize insulin. It also involves high blood pressure, high triglyceride levels, as well as high blood sugar.

In the last decade, all the studies have demonstrated that the problem of fatty liver is not limited to the liver. This is an indicator of a full abnormal profile. Diabetes, hypertension and other conditions can occur simultaneously. If you have a fatty liver, you shouldn’t ignore or rule out all of these conditions.

Consult your liver specialist as soon as possible if you suspect that you may have a fatty liver!
